Trustees’ Week is here again!
Building Board Brilliance – share your trustee role with our cohort
We’re so excited to be launching our Trustee and Governance training program this month. Part of our program will involve supporting aspiring trustees to find the right role with our member organisations.
To make sure we can share your trustee role with our cohort (as well as 100s of other volunteers on our database!) add it to our volunteering platform, Community Southwark Volunteer.
Fingers crossed for some fruitful matches!
Recruiting Trustees
Research shows that most organisations recruit trustees through word of mouth. While this can work well, it can also limit opportunities for creating a diverse board. That’s why it’s so important to get the word out. Here are some places you do just that:
- Reach Volunteering allows you to advertise and search for candidates on the UK’s biggest trustee platform; free to small charities
- Charity Job is free for a basic listing.
- Women on Boards lists board roles across many sectors (free to post though you need a paid account to view vacancies).
- Board Racial Diversity UK hold a database of over 500 Black and Asian network organisations which you can access for a donation.
- The Young Trustee Movement advertises roles for trustees aged 30 and under.
- Trustees Unlimited provides basic listing, free to members of NCVO
- Queer trustees will promote your role to their networks
Specialised roles:
- Charterpath who are dedicated to connecting charities with finance professionals. Free postings for trustee and volunteer finance roles
- Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) ICAEW Volunteers is a free service connecting charities with finance professionals looking for volunteer roles.
- Honorary Treasurers Forum who post trustee and treasurer roles for those with financial skills.
- Bar in the Community who post trustee roles that require legal expertise.
