The Safeguarding Network is for our members in Southwark’s VCS sector, supporting vulnerable adults and children.
Chair: Diana Hofler, South East London MIND
Secretariat: Raks Patel, Community Southwark
Purpose
- To create a peer support network amongst Southwark’s VCS sector for those organisations supporting vulnerable adults and children
- To share information, knowledge and resources about supporting and protecting vulnerable adults and children
- To establish a two-way dialogue with the Southwark Safeguarding Boards
- To ensure VCS representatives attending the Safeguarding Adults Board and the Safeguarding Children and Young People Board (and other relevant forums) on behalf of the sector are informed of the sector’s views and experiences in relation to Safeguarding, including in relation to new and emerging issues and best practice
- To involve VCS service providers at a strategic level in the co-design, delivery and evaluation of statutory services relating to Safeguarding.
Establishing a two-way dialogue with the Southwark Safeguarding Boards means:
- Ensuring the sector is kept informed of developments and discussions at the Southwark Safeguarding Boards and up to date on policies, procedures, safeguarding thresholds and upcoming opportunities; and
- Raising any problems or trends identified by the VCS sector in local safeguarding practice with the Southwark Safeguarding Boards for discussion and action.
Diana Hofler, South East London MIND, is our VCS representative on the Safeguarding Adults Board and Ahlam Laabori, Bede House, is our VCS representative on the Safeguarding Children and Young People Board.
