Organisational Support Appointments

 

What is it?

Organisational Support Appointments are dedicated one-on-one sessions provided by the VCS Support Team for our members. These sessions can address a variety of topics customised to meet the specific needs of organisations.

Eligibility

To book an Organisational Support Appointment, your organisation needs to be a Community Southwark Member. Members are entitled to up to 5 hours of FREE one-to-one support per year. This support appointment and any follow-up work will be deducted from your organisational support allowance.

Funding

Identify funding opportunities using our funding database

For application reviews, email your draft at least 2 weeks before your appointment, as some staff work part-time.

Governance

The governing document sets out how your charity is run, including its structure, name, and purposes. Governance also refers to the role of trustees or directors in setting long-term direction, ensuring legal compliance, and being accountable to stakeholders.

Setting up

We do not provide support for individuals in the early stages of starting a not-for-profit business, but you can click here for guidance. Our services are primarily designed to help established groups become more sustainable, including grassroots groups. If your community group wants to incorporate or change its legal structure (e.g. from CIC to CIO), we can help.

Policies and Procedures

We offer guidance on safeguarding, health and safety, and can signpost you to specialist support such as HR and legal advice.

Strategy Development

We can support you with organisational development, fundraising strategy, and business planning.

Finance Management

We do not provide accountancy-related services. We can guide you on budget planning or signpost you to our finance courses. For specialist finance advice, please visit our resource library.

Cancellations

 

If you can’t attend an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the slot to another group. Missing 3 appointments without notice will result in a 3-month booking pause, though you can still attend training and events. We’ll give at least 48 hours’ notice if we need to cancel, except in emergencies, due to ill health or if you are ineligible for our services.
