We delivered two practical workshops for voluntary and community groups in Southwark in applying for the National Lottery Cost of Living Fund (September 2023).

“Very helpful session and will certainly help in putting a good application together” – [workshop attendee]

The sessions covered the following:

  • Background and process in applying for the funding e.g. eligibility, questions and deadline etc.
  • Activities focused on answering the grant application questions with peer review opportunities to share and build ideas
  • Key information to include and strengthen your application.
  • Top tips e.g.
  1. Identify the need that exists in the community
  2. Share the activities you’ll hold for your service-users
  3. Describe the outcomes you would like to see as a result of your activities

The main benefits of the in-person workshops were having the opportunity to collaborate with other groups, share experiences, brainstorm ideas, and being able to completely focus on the session with no distractions (e.g. checking emails, cats, speaking to colleagues unrelated to the workshop).

“Informative and got to meet and learn from the team” – [workshop attendee]
