Universal Credit Network (UCN)

The Universal Credit Network (UCN) is a quarterly meeting for people working in charities and public facing community organisations that work with Universal Credit claimants on the front-line. At the UCN, attendees have the opportunity to meet with UC experts and have their concerns and queries regarding UC answered.

The UCN aims to provide functional knowledge of the Universal Credit system and fill in grey areas of knowledge and know-how that staff might need when working with claimants.

To join the Universal Credit Network please email sari@communitysouthwark.org with your name, email, organisation and role and we will add you to our mailing list.

There are a number of advice agencies operating in Southwark who can provide advice and guidance to people experiencing issues relating to their Universal Credit claim (and other benefit-related issues).

There are many organisations in Southwark which provide additional support to individuals and families, ranging from emergency food provision, to employability schemes.

Resources & Training

There are lots of resources available online that focus on Universal Credit and we’ve collated some here – including official guidance published by the Department for Work and Pensions. We'll also add any up-coming training here.

There is a growing body of research examining the impact of the introduction of Universal Credit on both individuals and local authorities, some of which we have listed here.

Network Meeting Notes

The Universal Credit Network (UCN) is for charities and public facing community organisations who do not specialise in providing advice, or who do not have the resources to keep up-to-date with UC, but whose service users are affected by it on a daily basis.
