What is the Big Help Out?
The Big Help Out is a nationwide campaign to showcase the benefits of volunteering and get more people giving back to their communities. The campaign will take place from 7–9 June, offering individuals the chance to sample volunteering and explore the range of ways they can contribute to their communities.
Using The Big Help Out app and website, voluntary organisations can showcase a variety of opportunities – from one-off events to micro-volunteering projects and informative ‘taster’ sessions aimed at fostering long-term engagement. It’s not just about getting people to volunteer for a day, it’s about inspiring a new generation of people to get involved in volunteering!
What are the benefits of taking part?
6 million people joined in with the Big Help Out last year. The publicity around the Big Help Out is a great way to draw attention your volunteering roles or to hold an event or social media campaign around the 7th of June.
How can my organisation get involved?
There are plenty of ways your organisation can take part in the Big Help Out.
- Register your volunteering roles or a volunteering themed event on the new Big Help Out volunteering platform.
- Hold a volunteering themed event! This might be a open day, a online or in person chance to chat to current staff and volunteers, or a drop in coffee morning
- Highlight current volunteer stories by getting quotes, images or short videos. We know that hearing from current volunteers is a great way for potential new volunteers to get a feel for your organisation
- Add your volunteering events to our Share Your Latest form so we can share them in our community and volunteering newsletters
