Southwark Voice

Southwark Voice is a network of networks; a gathering of representatives/chairs of networks representing the voluntary and community sector in Southwark who are elected by their peers and have the mandate to speak on behalf of the sector.

Southwark Voice is an independent group of Representatives from networks of voluntary organisations, community groups and active citizens working in Southwark.

The purpose of Southwark Voice is to provide a strong, coherent voice for the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in Southwark.

Southwark Voice meets quarterly and its agenda is focused on progressing the recommendations in the State of the Sector report HERE. It hears updates from the working groups for funding, premises, and statutory partners relationships at every meeting.

Recent meetings have also discussed:

  • successfully making the case for some inflationary uplift in grant and contract funding from the council – more details HERE,
  • influencing Partnership Southwark’s £100k for funding differently (core, unrestricted, light touch, with decisions made by the VCS) – more details HERE.
  • targeted support for Grass Roots Groups (highlighted in State of the Sector),
  • the VCS premises perspective about the council’s Land Commission with the relevant Council Cabinet Member.
