Southwark News covered our recent Community Action Network event on the 6 December 2021 which involved social activists from today at the tenant resident association Pelican Plus and experiences from the 1970s with SE1 Stories
They spoke about challenges for social activists such as that of mobilising tenants and how the same challenges which existed in the 1970s are still with us today. There was talk about regeneration and achievements that social activists had made in Southwark like Coin Street , a social enterprise community group that promotes local businesses and activities on Southbank.
We also heard from the British Afghan Society who has been working with Community Southwark to provide support to the Afghan refugees who are in Southwark waiting to be housed.
