A number of pre-selected VCS organisations are eligible to refer to the Southwark Energy Support Scheme this winter.

Southwark Council offers this scheme to help local residents with the cost of heating their homes this winter by making one-off £65 payments to them. To be eligible they must be:

  • a Southwark resident
  • on low income
  • responsible for paying energy bills.

They must also meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • be 75 years old or older
  • not be eligible for benefits
  • have a large or energy-inefficient home
  • be of pensionable age with health or disability issues.

If you have any clients who meet the above criteria but who have not received their payment yet, you can refer them to Southwark Council via the following VCS organisations:

Age UK Lewisham&Southwark

Citizens Advice Southwark

Latin American Women’s Rights Service

Spring Community Hub

Southwark Foodbank (Pecan) – referrals via email to foodbank.support@pecan.org.uk only

Southwark Group of Tenants Organisations

Southwark Law Centre

Southwark Pensioners’ Centre

St. Matthew’s Church / Parroquia de San Mateo

Time and Talents

Their contact details are on our membership database.

All referrals must be completed by the referring VCS organisations by 31st March 2022. However, as the overall funding pot is limited to £300,000, the scheme will stop accepting new referrals once all funding has been distributed. If you would like to consider becoming a referral organisation please contact chris@communitysouthwark.org for further information.

You may also want to consider referring your clients to the Southwark Emergency Support Scheme.
