Southwark Council – £20k funding for local organisations to train residents and VCS members as community researchers

If you work on community or peer research, or lived experience-led evaluation in Southwark, apply by 12th March 2025, 2pm
For further information, please contact siip@southwark.gov.uk.

Southwark Council is bringing together a team to develop and deliver training on Participatory Action Research (PAR).

We want to upskill residents and members of our voluntary and community sector as Community Researchers. The PAR-trained Community Researchers will carry out action research and co-production projects with the Council, on health and social issues that matter to them.

Southwark Council are partnering with the London South Bank University (LSBU) and the People’s Academy, a patient and public engagement platform based at LSBU on this project.

We are inviting local organisations with PAR experience, or similar experience in community research, peer research, or lived experience-led evaluation, to join the collaboration so that local expertise can inform this work.

Up to £20,000 funding is available each, for up to two organisations.

The funding is to join the collaboration team from April 2025 onwards, jointly develop the training programme, and help deliver it four times over two years. The project specification is here: Updated project specification – SIIP PAR training provision by local organisations – apply by 12 March 2025

Please share your proposal for this funding by 12th March, 2pm.

Please email a brief proposal (no more than 2 A4 pages / 1,000 words maximum) summarising how you meet our project specification to siip@southwark.gov.uk.

We want to hear about:
• Your experience on PAR, community research, peer research, or lived experience led evaluation in Southwark
• What benefits you can bring to this training collaboration

You can join an online drop-in info session to find out more about the project or ask further questions on:
• Tuesday 25 February 10am to 12 noon
• Thursday 27 February 4pm to 6pm

Please contact the Southwark Insights and Intelligence Programme (SIIP) team for the specification details, to sign up for a drop-in session, or if you have any questions: siip@southwark.gov.uk
