“Nothing About Us Without Us”: Local Charity invites LGBTQIA community to shape exciting new peer support group.
Lambeth and Southwark have a thriving LGBTQ+ community. But many people who identify as LGBTQIA+ report feeling isolated, misunderstood, and unsupported, leading to increased levels of stress, anxiety, and depression.
South East London Mind has recognised this urgent need and has taken urgent action by successfully securing funding for a new wellbeing group: Queer Minds.
The group will be a safe, chilled space where LGBTQIA+ people can talk about their feelings, connect with others, and get support. The group will meet every month to chat, be themselves, and talk openly in a non-judgmental space.
With over 25 services across five boroughs, South East London Mind are committed to responding to needs of the local community and tackling important issues head-on. Peter Bampton, Head of Services for Lambeth and Southwark, explained, “It’s really important that our services reflect the people we’re helping. Lambeth and Southwark have a big LGBTQIA+ community, and we know they face unique challenges. Queer Minds is all about creating a supportive place for them.”
