Queen Ekuerhare – Outstanding contribution to Health and Wellbeing 2021

"Queen brilliantly demonstrates the nimbleness of small grassroots charity volunteers who can adapt at times of crises and show outstanding leadershipto keep community spirit and service alive"

Queen,  was nominated for Outstanding Contribution to Health and Wellbeing Award 2021 for her amazing work with Golden Oldies and Flashy Wings Ministry!

Read more about her work below:

“Queen is a dynamic, passionate and inspirational advocate for women in Southwark. For 10 years she has put on conferences, workshops, coffee mornings, classes and recreational activities for disadvantaged women.

At lockdown, many women who had taken part in ‘Flashy Wings’ activities contacted Queen in a distressed and desperate situation, unable to buy food for their children and families. Many had no recourse to public funds and no-one else to turn to. Queen quickly mobilised a team of volunteers and managed to secure emergency funding.

Throughout the difficult first lockdown, and for some time afterwards, she organised provision of weekly food and essentials to hundreds of women, including refugees and single mothers – sometimes doing this from the Lettsom Hall TRA in Camberwell but often going out and doing deliveries.

Queen brilliantly demonstrates the nimbleness of small grassroots charity volunteers who can adapt at times of crises and show outstanding leadership and endeavour to keep community spirit and service alive. “

Thank you Queen, for all you!
