We are, Proudtobeme, a Southwark-based youth charity that supports disadvantaged young people from a BAME background by empowering them to aspire, achieve and fulfil their potential.
Proudtobeme specialise in supporting young women as that was the initial focus of the organisation.
Proudtobeme also focuses on and excels at helping young women to develop their confidence, especially as we have witnessed this to be an increasingly prevalent issue amongst young women; an issue that can hinder them from reaching their potential.
The Proudtobeme support approach is guided by our 4 pillars:
Leadership
Entrepreneurship
Employability
Creativity
We are planning the delivery of a new progamme, which addresses the needs of girls and young women around the issue of domestic abuse. Please see the flyer for information on what we plan to deliver on the programme.
To provide the most relevant and helpful support, we have designed this programme in a way that takes into account the full definition of domestic abuse, which covers incidents and patterns of: controlling behaviour, coercive behaviour, threats and degradation; violent behaviour and that includes sexual violence.
The programme has been designed to provide practical preventive and remedial support to help empower girls and young women and give them the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential, no matter their backgrounds or circumstances.
This programme is aimed at girls and young women aged 15 -25, and the Borough of Southwark is one of the main locations that we are targeting.
