Autumn has arrived. With temperatures falling, we want to keep you feeling warm, if only on the inside. Our Membership and Outreach Officer, Gosia, has been with us for over ten months. Her work has been crucial in building strong links with our members and tying together all the teams’ work.
Here is a story of our member working with Gosia.
One of the first organisations Gosia met back in January 2023 was Generations4Change. She travelled to Dulwich to meet with Maxine, the organisation’s leader. Maxine told her the organisation was struggling in the post-pandemic reality, and they haven’t been using Community Southwark’s resources or support at the time.
The meeting focused on introducing Maxine to the abundance of resources available to our members and ensuring she knew how to access the help she needed. We discussed the organisation’s challenges and needs and found a way for Maxine to take the first steps.
“The Outreach Officer set me off in the right direction.” Maxine Asare, Generations 4 Change.
Gosia referred Maxine for 121 VCS support, and things started to take shape. Soon enough, an opportunity came up with the Talent Works programme. Gosia recommended Generations4Change to the programme, resulting in a brand-new website for the organisation.
Maxine was now more connected to Community Southwark. She took part in the Funding Differently assessment panel and gave her scores on 65 community organisations applying for the grant. Gosia continues to support Maxine and is always happy to chat with any of our members, ensuring they know what is available and how to access what they need.
