What does your organisation do?
We recently reopened the building to the public with in-person activities, such as a Cooking Club, Craft Club, Community Fridge, Cafe, and many more – everyone is welcome!
How does your organisation support and benefit the Southwark community?
Throughout the year we’ll have programmes with activities for all ages and we also encourage people to bring their own ideas to use and transform the Living Room.
What are you working on, is there anything you would like to highlight?
Recently, we’ve also opened a new Cafe in the Walworth Living Room. Every week our chef Samar cooks delicious soups and cakes. We’re also serving coffee, tea, and barista style hot drinks but – more importantly – coming to our Cafe is always a great excuse to meet with new people and have a chat.
Can you explain how Community Southwark has benefited you?
Yes, we recently partnered with Community Southwark and the Southwark Food Action Alliance to host the Southwark Sustainable Food Summit. Groups from across Southwark and further afield came together to work towards building more sustainable food supply in the borough.
Would you recommend Community Southwark to other charities for support?
Yes
If yes, why?
Community Southwark is the go-to place for training and resources in Southwark and we often recommend it to emerging community groups in the area.
How can people get support from your organisation?
As we are a community space, we encourage people to take the initiative and organise their own activities at the Walworth Living Room. If you always dreamed of organising a book club or any other activity, the Walworth Living Room is probably the right place for you!
