Our May 2022 Hustings event in Southwark News

Our Hustings event made it into Southwark News:

LOCAL ELECTIONS 2022: COUNCILLORS GRILLED AT HUSTINGS EVENT FOR BLACK, LATIN-AMERICAN AND MINORITY ETHNIC COMMUNITIES

The hopeful candidates faced a barrage of questions on redevelopment, gentrification, racial inequalities, budget allocation, regeneration and more.

Candidates hoping to secure votes in the May local elections faced tough questions at a hustings event organised by the borough’s minority ethnic communities, writes Herbie Russell…

The event, a first-of-its-kind, was held on Saturday 9 April at Peckham Levels, Rye Lane, and saw local politicians probed on issues facing minority ethnic groups across the borough.

Nuala Riddell-Morales, director of the Carnaval del Pueblo Association, a charity that puts on cultural events for the Latin-American community said:  “It’s an opportunity for people to ask the things they want to ask. We’re really excited about it.
