Hi, I am Deborah. I am the Director of Development & Partnerships. I have been at CS since 2010 and have had 5 different roles here, keeping me on my toes. I love the variety of work at CS, the trust to give ideas a go and to use our initiative.
I did sort of fall into working at CS, applying randomly while finishing my MA in Education, Health Promotion and International Development and having had to turn down the opportunity to intern at the UN because I couldn’t afford the living costs without a wage! My dream job would have been for Medicine Sans Frontieres but sadly my science ability was too low to go into medicine – although weirdly I have given many quinine injections, delivered a baby and dealt with a typhoid outbreak. I have taught English, PE and Sexual Health and Wellbeing classes in Uganda. I am passionate about culture being open to all and wrote my dissertation on heritage and culture as tools of health and wellbeing promotion.
I now spend most of my spare time running after my toddler – Isaiah, but also make my own jewellery and help my brother deliver sport parties for children. My favourite places in the whole world are Uganda, Zambia, Florence and Lisbon (and Scotland and Ireland due to family connectons there).
