We ran a ‘Meet the Funders’ event for Grassroots and other local Community Groups in Southwark on 5th March. We were kindly hosted by Drapers Hall who also provided delicious catering.
The day started with presentations from:
- Draper Hall
- Southwark Charities & Rotherhithe Consolidated Charities
- Community Southwark – Pro Bono Corporate Support
After a short break, groups had the opportunity to speak to a range of funders as well as Community Southwark staff members:
- Children in Need
- Charterhouse-in-Southwark
- Haberdashers
- Impact on Urban Health
- National Lottery Community Fund
- Southwark Charities and Rotherhithe Consolidated Charities
- Southwark Council
- United St Saviours
- Community Southwark – Q&A on support available
We then finished with lunch, and networking and for the final part of the day, groups stayed behind to discuss what support they would like moving forward. They explored different models of networks and topics of interest such as training and peer support.
According to the feedback survey, 100% of attendees have said they found the event ‘useful for their work’ and ‘had the opportunity to ask questions’.
“Being able to access the funders to ask questions was a great opportunity. A particular useful aspect was talking to other attendees who brought awareness to other funders from their personal experiences experience” [attendee]
“useful information provided and plenty of opportunity to discuss aspects and related matters. Easy to get to venue, comfortable venue and enjoyable refreshments. Excellent timekeeping and facilitation.” [attendee]
