Every day, staff and volunteers in Southwark talk to hundreds of local people who are dealing with various challenges. Making Every Contact Count is about using the power of these short conversations to support people’s health and wellbeing, and enable them to access the support they need.

For Southwark-based organisations, a free 3-hour training course funded by Public Health at Southwark Council, is available to help organisations use the MECC approach.

The training will:

• help you to understand the principles of MECC and use the 3As approach (Ask-Advise-Assist)
• allow you to reflect on what you do well when talking to residents about their health and wellbeing and highlight any areas for development
• introduce you to the services in Southwark that are available to support residents’ health and wellbeing
• allow you to access resources that facilitate good MECC conversations and help you to signpost residents onwards

SMG Learning are delivering this training throughout the year and running the following open training sessions at Tooley Street, where individual bookings can be made:
• Wednesday 9th April, 9.30am-12.30pm
• Thursday 19th June, 1pm-4pm

Please contact the training team at meccsupport@smgateway.co.uk to book a place.

If your organisation has a My Learning Source account, you can book onto one of these dates via My Learning Source.
