Community Southwark is thrilled to be collaborating with Mercato Metropolitano this March to bring you the Southwark Volunteering Fair!

Southwark’s first Volunteering Fair since 2019 is a space to highlight the diverse range of volunteer options available in our borough. It’s an excellent opportunity to speak with a wide range of Southwark residents who have skills, experience, and time to support your purpose.

Registration for the fair has now closed, as we are at event capacity. Please fill out the form below to be added to the waiting list. We will contact you if a space becomes available.

When and where is the fair taking place?

The event will take place at Mercato Metropolitano, the vibrant sustainable community market located in Elephant & Castle (42 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6DR) on 1st March, and will be open to the public between 12:00 to 15:00. Community organisations will need to be on site from 11am to set up.

How does my organisation take part?

You must be a community organisation operating in Southwark. All you need to do is fill in the short form below and we will confirm whether you have been allocated a place. Registration will close two weeks before the fair, or when we reach venue capacity.

Please note places are in high demand, and we cannot guarantee every organisation a slot.

What should I bring?

You will be assigned a table and two chairs. We encourage you to bring communication materials such as leaflets, photos, banners, and decorations to make your booth stand out to potential volunteers. It’s also a good idea to carry a sign-up sheet (or have it available digitally) to record the information of people who show interest, so you can contact them after the fair.

Facilities and Accessibility

Mercato Metropolitano is fully wheelchair accessible with ramp access and is pet-friendly. The venue is both indoor and outdoor, with gender-neutral toilets. There are several food shacks and bars, meaning alcohol may be consumed within the event premises. Supervised children are welcome too.

Mercato Metropolitano has a no single-use plastic policy, so your bags may be searched before entering the market. Please note that, as part of their sustainability policy, no corporate brand food is allowed (nor served) in the market.
