About Walworth Garden

Walworth Garden is an educational and environmental charity, dedicated to knowledge and nurture. We provide excellent learning and horticultural therapy in a garden that is open to all, seven days a week. Our charitable work includes teaching City & Guilds accredited Practical Horticulture Skills at Level 2, and running gardening therapy for those with mild to moderate mental health issues, as well as those who need support before re-entering work.

In order to generate additional income, our trading arm provides additional Environmental Landscaping Services to public, private and community sites. We also run a plant centre focusing on house propagated, organic and peat-free stock for the discerning gardeners of London and beyond. These commercial endeavours build surpluses that support our charitable work, and this symbiosis is essential to Walworth Garden’s ongoing success.

About This Role

This role would suit someone with the ability to see the big picture of our work in the sector, as well as the small pieces of the puzzle that make it all possible – perhaps you have come from the business or retail marketing sector and would like to apply your skills to environmental campaigns, or a larger charity where you are now looking to make more immediate or targeted impact, or even helped to grow a grassroots organisation or small business. There are many facets of our work and income streams that make Walworth Garden a continuing success, and we’re looking for someone who can support and celebrate all of these elements to keep us growing. The purpose of the role is to:

Understand, represent, and advertise all elements of Walworth Garden’s work to build our brand and ensure that these operations continue to grow together and support our growing success

Use marketing and communications expertise to drive traffic to our website and social media channels; drive footfall to our site; increase bookings and enrolments on our courses and programmes, generate sales within our plant centre; expand our environmental landscaping client base; and generally increase public knowledge of and engagement with Walworth Garden both in person and online.
