We wanted to share this fantastic example of a grass routes good news story of people donating to help their neighbours to help with the cost of living crisis. Please donate if you can!
Leading up to Christmas, Nunhead Knocks distributed more than £5k to their neighbours in need. Nunhead Knocks is a community Fund set up to help people with reimbursement on food, fuel and other essentials, as they point out on their website: “Times are hard, people shouldn’t have to choose between food and fuel”.
The team at Nunhead Knocks say: It’s been incredible to see the impact that your contributions are having on the community. One mother gave thanks for the support as she’d just gone back to hospital after giving birth and was struggling to make ends meet. Another father said:
“I would just like to thank this community for this support – I am a father of 4 and having learned and engaged with this initiative can really vouch for it as something able to really make profound differences in a households life. Had it not been for the Open Collective the decisions between heating and eating were really poised on a balance and this is from someone who works and earns an otherwise decent salary yet is unable to meet responsibilities as fluid as in times past. Thank you kindly from the depths of my heart for all you have done and continue to do.” – JC
Any donations are directly used to support people in the SE15 community with food, fuel and other essentials during the cost of living crisis.
More funds are urgently needed
The team have just one week’s funds left in the pot and unless their donations increase substantially, they will run out of funds in January – during the coldest month of the year.
So your support is urgently needed!
