About Age Exchange
Age Exchange are passionate and experienced in helping those living with dementia and their carers. We work side-by-side with people, listening to them and supporting them to take part in creative and stimulating activities. Our work creates lasting friendships - and lots of fun and laughter!
We pay special attention to the memories, life experiences and interests of those we support, and use music, movement, arts and crafts, games and other things to learn about people. In our work with people living with dementia, memory is not about asking a person to remember – it is about reaching out to the person in the here and now through the things that are important to them.
As well as the person living with dementia, we also invite those that care for them to attend our groups so that they can meet others in a similar position, helping to combat loneliness and isolation.
About the role:
The role would involve assisting the kitchen team to help prepare a hot lunch for their dementia service.
An experienced facilitator will be running the group and will be on site to ensure you’re properly supported.
Ideally you will be able to make a weekly commitment (Mondays 11am-3pm) when the group takes place. However, if you are interested please contact us, as alterative times and days may be available.
We can, within reason, reimburse your travel and lunch expenses up to £10 per day.
You are very welcome to call or email for an informal chat about the role and our work with people living with dementia.
