We planned for four network meetings over 2019 to bring together residents, local voluntary and community sector representatives and health and care professionals. The end goal is to develop a business case for future funding of social prescribing to bring to Guy's and St Thomas’ Charity in 2020.
What we hope to achieve through the four network meetings:
- Identify who are the people who would most benefit from social prescribing, what we already have in place to support these people, and where the gaps are
- Develop the outcomes we are seeking to achieve and how we will measure them
- Explore access points and the social prescribing pathway/approach
- Develop a funding and business model.
We've had three network meetings so far and will have one more in early 2020.
We have also conducted a review to understand more about the different forms of social prescribing activity currently taking place in Southwark which will inform a longer term approach to commissioning of social prescribing. This will be based on an understanding of needs in the borough, what services exist to meet need, which approaches are effective and for whom, and where the gaps are. You can read the review here.
