Funding available to decrease cancer inequalities in Southwark

Grants available for groups working with communities with a lower uptake of cancer screening

New funding programme aiming to support work address inequalities in uptake of the NHS Bowel Cancer, Breast and Cervical Screening Programmes and early diagnosis services in Southwark.

About the fund:

Funding local voluntary and community service (VCS) organisations to engage and communicate with target groups in the local community who are disproportionately impacted by inequalities in cancer screening uptake. They want to fund several organisations for 9 months each, starting in October / November 2022.

Eligibility:  Open to applications from organisations working with groups who show lower cancer screening uptake including:

  • Residents of North Southwark wards
  • Black and Minority Ethnic Groups (including White Gypsy/Irish Traveller)
  • Those with English as second, or other language
  • Economically deprived groups
  • Disability groups
  • LGBTQ+
  • Survivors of sexual violence / Female genital mutilation (FGM)
  • Certain age groups
  • Men (for Bowel only)
  • Smokers

 Organisations do not need to be a registered charity.

Amount: £5,000-£15,000.
