Free Making Every Contact Count training for Southwark’s volunteers

Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is about using the power of these short conversations to support people’s health and wellbeing and enable them to access the support they need.

Every day, volunteers in Southwark talk to hundreds of local people who are dealing with various challenges. Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is about using the power of these short conversations to support people’s health and wellbeing and enable them to access the support they need.

A free 3-hour training course is available to help you use the MECC approach. The training will:

• help you to understand the principles of MECC and use the 3As approach (Ask-Advise-Assist)
• allow you to reflect on what you do well when talking to residents about their health and wellbeing and highlight any areas for development
• introduce you to the services in Southwark that are available to support residents’ health and wellbeing
• allow you to access resources that facilitate good MECC conversations and help you to signpost residents onwards

A training session for volunteers working in Southwark will take place on Sunday 12 May, 8.30-11.30 at Peckham Library.
