Digital Shift is a free 8-month programme to support independent organisations in Elephant & Castle and Walworth with digital marketing and communications, delivered by London College of Communication (LCC) and funded by Southwark Council.
Charities and community organisations in Elephant & Castle and Walworth are invited to sign up for an eight-month digital marketing and communications programme. You’ll get support designed around your organisation’s digital marketing priorities and needs.
Designed around your digital marketing priorities and needs, organisations will receive:
- 2 x digital marketing skills workshops
- 1-2-1 organisational consultancy session
- Student work placements on dedicated marketing and communication projects
Digital Shift is designed to help local organisations:
- Improve your digital marketing and communications skills, knowledge and confidence to help grow and meet your organisation’s goals
- Join a supportive network of local independent organisations
- Offer local students real-world professional opportunities, supporting emerging creatives
Programme Overview:
- Digital Shift runs from September 2024 – March 2025. Workshops and consultation will be led by Lynsey Fox, Senior Lecturer in Public Relations and Media and Communications at London College of Communication.
- Welcome session: Get to know the Digital Shift network.
- Workshop 1: Learn new skills, free tools and tips designed around your communications and marketing needs. Workshop content will be tailored to participant needs, but could include:
- – How to better use your social media platforms and website
- – How communication/branding/digital PR can help you communicate your vision, aims and values
- – Branding, customer profiling, UX web design, customer experience, social media, content marketing, email marketing, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
- – Signposting to further relevant support in Southwark
- Workshop 2: Digital skills for the future, designed around the needs of your organisation. Workshop content will be tailored to participant needs, but could include:
- – How to streamline your digital communications, optimising impact and minimising time and budget
- – How digital transformation/automation can support sustainability
- – AI: What it is, its impacts, and how to utilise it on a day-to-day basis
- – Personalisation and total experience: How to provide enhanced customer experience
- Individual consultation, September-October 2024: Tailored 1-2-1 organisational consultancy session with Lynsey Fox.
Student Placements, January-February 2025: 2 LCC students will participate in a 4-week digital marketing placement with your organisation, supporting you with specific communications and marketing projects, such as:
– Setting up social media accounts, copywriting and content creation
– Photography
– Print material design – posters, menus, flyers
– Improved brand assets (logo and brand identity)
Students will be paid the London Living Wage, covered by Digital Shift funding from Southwark Council, and at no cost to your business.
How to apply:
Digital Shift is open to all independent small businesses and organisations in Elephant and Castle and Walworth, that have up to 50 staff and an annual turnover of less than £10 million. Cafes, restaurants, clothes stores, hairdressers, food shops, electrical retail, charities, social enterprises and cultural organisations – all are welcome! As this project is focussed on supporting independent organisations, we are unable to support chains or franchises.
Organisations must identify 1-2 senior staff member(s) who are able to attend ALL workshops and consultancy sessions and training for hosting student placements.
