Protection Approaches, a charity working to prevent all identity-based violence have been funded by the Mayor of London to offer free training on Active Bystandership to members of voluntary and community groups, staff at local councils, and businesses across the capital, including Southwark!

Developed in partnership with the Britain`s East and South East Asian Network (besea.n) the expert-led 3-hour online or in-person session sees participants guided through a series of discussions to explore what they can do to reduce harm when they encounter prejudice, harassment, or identity-based violence such as a racist attack in a supermarket or an inappropriate comment from a colleague or classmate.

We can run sessions with up to 25 participants at a time online or in person and there is no cost.

In recent months we have delivered training for varied groups such as staff at Sky UK, the BBC, PayPal, and the British Library as well as with dozens of grassroots community groups and thousands of school students. Feedback from participants has been fantastic including: “I honestly think this should be training that everyone should do as this is as vital for life as it is for the workplace.”

An information sheet with more details can be accessed https://tinyurl.com/4m8jb8s2 and we would be very happy to set up a call to discuss more if this free training is something that groups in Southwark would be interested in discussing more.
