What can trustees do about climate change?

  • Start: 5th June, 2024 @ 4:30PM
  • End: 5th June, 2024 @ 5:30PM
  • Online

This session is part of Getting On Board’s Trustee Learning Programme, providing free and high-quality training to support people to become and serve as effective trustees.

The climate crisis is not just of relevance to trustees of environmental charities.

To give one example, that of health, the World Health Organisation says “Climate change presents a fundamental threat to human health … It is therefore a threat multiplier, undermining and potentially reversing decades of health progress.”

Trustees of small-medium sized charities, have an important role to play. And trustees of charities which don’t have environmental protection enshrined into their mission should absolutely be focusing on climate change.

Climate change will impact every single charity’s mission and the people, animals or places you are there to serve. It poses significant risk to your work but there are also some big opportunities too, and you may find that you can incorporate these into your existing programmes of work without having to develop new programmes.

But how do you get started? How do you map what the climate crisis means for your charity? How do you even get in on the agenda?

Join our panel to discuss what trustees of small-medium sized charities can do about the climate crisis.
