We Walworth Project BBQ end of this Saturday
The We Walworth project started in May 2022 with an ambitious target to talk to 80% of the neighbourhood about food insecurity and inequality in Walworth.
We set out to understand the experiences, skills and ideas here and how we can work together to make this a better place to live. As we began having conversations, we learned that the BBQs in Burgess Park are an issue that people really care about.
About The Event
We’ve already hosted aNeighbourhood BBQ and had more than 100 conversations with local people – and we’re hoping to do that again this month to move closer to a solution for the community. If you’ve come to one of our events before and want to join again, it would be great if you could bring a friend or colleague along!
As you know, the BBQ area in Burgess Park was enormously popular before Covid, but the area is now fenced off after complaints about anti-social behaviour and safety concerns. Local people fear that the decision has already been made to keep the area closed for good.
WHEN: 3-7pm on Saturday 24 September
WHERE: Walworth Living Room, Surrey Square, London SE17 2JU
By bringing people from both sides of the argument together, by working together as a group of residents, practitioners and professionals, including representatives of local and national government – could the BBQs be the issue to unite a neighbourhood?
We’re looking for people to join the conversation and take action.
- Techniques to engage with people we don’t yet know
- Identifying great ideas and leaders in our community
- Why do we want to organise around connections and networks
