Hugh qualified as a chartered accountant and worked in general accountancy before starting to specialise in VAT. He qualified as a chartered tax adviser (VAT route) in 2001 and left accountancy practice in 2011 to set up his own VAT consultancy, which he continues to run. He has helped several charities with their VAT issues as this is recognised as an unusually complex area of VAT. He has been a member of the ATT VAT technical sub-committee for several years. Hugh is based in Somerset but has clients throughout the UK.
