Join Extinction Rebellion (XR) to discuss the revised Southwark Climate Action Plan and how it connects to local campaigning priorities

After declaring a climate emergency in 2019, Southwark Council first adopted a Climate Action Plan in the summer of 2021.

In response, XR gathered local campaigners and provided feedback to Southwark Council emphasising how the borough Climate Action Plan needed to be significantly strengthened.

The letter XR sent outlining this can be accessed by clicking here

The council took on board some of our feedback and have since updated the Climate Action Plan in 2022, which was taken to Cabinet in July 2022.

One year on, XRS lobbying group members invite you for a follow-up conversation at Pembroke House, on August 20th 2022, from 1pm-5pm (with a social afterwards!)

You can register by clicking here.

XRS members will provide a brief overview of the key aspects of the plan, and facilitate group discussion to understand how these connect with your local campaigning priorities:

  • Welcome and overview – 1-1.30
  • Active Transport discussion – 1.30-2.15
  • Greener Buildings – 1.30-2.15
  • Thriving Natural Environment – 2.30-3.15
  • Renewable Energy – 2.30-3.15
  • Circular Economy with Green Jobs – 3.30-4.15
  • Community Engagement – 3.30-4.15
