Southwark Council have been awarded money from the Department for Education’s Short Breaks Innovation Fund. Find out more about how they want to use this to support and enable VCS groups in the borough.
Southwark Council, Community Southwark and other local partners have successfully secured funding from the government to pilot some new short break activities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities between 1st April 2023 and 31st March 2024.
Short breaks can be anything from 1 hour spent doing something fun to overnight stays, where both the child and parents can take a break.
This funding includes circa £200k across a number of pots to support increased provision for young people aged 16-25, children with higher needs and inclusive universal provision.
