A community performance project in Elephant and Castle for all ages and experience.

Do you love to dance and move?
Do you want to meet new people?
Do you want to perform?

Join us for POWER, a series of FREE workshops with a final celebratory performance. This project runs for two weeks, from 30 May – 10 June at Siobhan Davies Studios.

POWER is the second of four performance projects – LANGUAGE, POWER, FEAR, EMOTION – made in Elephant and Castle. It’s FREE to take part and no experience is necessary.

We encourage people local to Elephant and Castle to join us – you might live, work, study or have ties here.

All ages are welcome! Participants under 12 must be with a guardian over 18 who is also participating. Participants between 12 and 18 attending alone will need to provide a guardian’s consent ahead of the sessions. Our lead facilitators have been DBS checked.

We have a limited number of travel bursaries available, these can cover return bus fares to get to/from the workshops. When you sign up there is a tick box to let us know that you would like one.

The theme for this year’s performance is POWER: we will explore power in numbers, critical mass and collectivity. We will be building new relationships, working closely together and exploring our individuality whilst being part of a group.

We’ll be trying different movement styles such as Tai Chi and Japanese Butoh, contemporary dance and improvisation, and social dances such as line-dancing and jive! Annie Pui Ling Lok, Co-Artistic Director of Siobhan Davies Studios, will lead the sessions, alongside guest artists Jia-Yu Corti and Nathaniel Parchment.

Each participant is invited to take part in eight workshops between Tuesday 30 May – Saturday 10 June, including the celebratory performance on Saturday 10 June.

We encourage you to attend as many of the workshops of your chosen group as you can but if there are ones you cannot attend just let us know.
