This event is for leaders of BAME community sector organisations/ groups providing health and social care services in Southwark.

In attendance at this event will be decision-makers from the NHS and Southwark’s Local Health Authority.

Why should you attend the event:

  • Find out more about BAME-led Community Organisations delivering health and care services that address health inequalities.
  • Join in the conversation about understanding and acknowledging the unequal power between ‘The BAME-led Community Sector and the NHS /Southwark’s local authority decision-makers’. How can this be shifted to a more equal relationship?

BACKGROUND

Last November the R.E.A.C.H Alliance network brought together decision-makers from the NHS and Southwark’s Local Authority Heath and Social Care bodies and leaders from the BAME-led community sector at a community conversation that focused on 4 objectives.

  1. Help increase the profile of BAME-led community sector health and social care providers and how they are helping to reduce health inequalities.
  2.  To gain practical solutions on how the BAME-led community sector can work with NHS and Southwark’s health and social care bodies to address health inequalities.
  3. Ensure that the BAME-led community sector fully contributes to the successful delivery of the ICS VCS Charter.
  4. To deliver a list of asks from BAME Community Sector leaders to NHS and local authority health and social care bodies.

Over 40 BAME community sector leaders attended alongside NHS and Southwark’s Health Authority decision makers all joining in on conversations about the above 4 Objectives.

4 pledges were committed by the NHS and Southwark’s Local authority decision-makers. A further 8 asks were put forward by BAME community Sector Leaders as solutions to addressing health inequalities and working with The NHS & Local Authority to ensure that the ICS VCS Charter is successful.
