In this new session, Superhighways will be looking at how to identify and frame the data you collect as an organisation, alongside external data sources, to present a case and influence change.

Small charities and community organisations are capturing useful data all the time. So are local authorities, national government, big charities and companies. Both our own data and that of others can help us draw insights into people’s circumstances and enable us to advocate for change or vital resources to meet need. This session will help you explore both internal and external data that could help build your case.

It will explore examples of organisations that are doing this and help you to think about how you can use stories from your work, backed up with your quantitative data and external data, to advocate for change for your community.

This session will cover

This free session for beginners will cover some of the core principles which should be used when working with data at all stages of the data journey:

  • data collection
  • data analysis and
  • data presentation

You’ll also learn some key pitfalls to avoid when working with data. You’ll come away with some best practice tips for drawing conclusions, identifying your data’s limitations and presenting data findings.

Ultimately it will start you on a journey of practice that will help you back your hunches with data that people can understand and create and share your own findings that will stand up to scrutiny.
