Charities interact with intellectual property (“IP”) in lots of different ways. There is typically IP in names, logos, websites and documents, and whether registered or not it can be some of a charity’s most valuable assets, so it is important that it works hard for you.

In this 90-minute in-person seminar, Bates Wells will use case studies to look at some of the key topics they typically see charities deal with when it comes to IP. It will go well beyond the basics, and look at a number of interesting areas, including:

  • Identifying where the ownership of IP sits, whether with employees, employers, consultants, volunteers or the charity itself;
  • Valuing IP, which can be relevant to sale or licensing of a project or a brand, joint ventures, commercial participator agreements, corporate foundations and more;
  • Critical campaigning and just how far such campaigns can go both legally and in practice;
  • Resolving brand disputes involving other charities or commercial entities.

Registration opens at 3.30pm, the seminar will begin at 4.00pm, rounded off with a Q&A section, and will be followed by drinks and nibbles.
