Community Partner Grants Programme to Support Delivery of the Sustainable Food Strategy (2023-26)
Southwark Council are pleased to announce a new grants programme for VCS organisations in the borough. Following publication of the Sustainable Food Strategy earlier this year, the council and the wider food partnership are working towards achieving a food system in Southwark that improves the health and wellbeing of our residents, reduces inequalities and protects the planet.
The council have allocated £100,000 for this grants programme, and are seeking to award 10-15 VCS organisations grants of up to £10,000 to deliver projects that support progress against the priorities outlined in the Sustainable Food Strategy:
1) A good food partnership to join up our efforts to improve the local food system.
2) Strong & connected communities to build connections through food.
3) Food security & Right to Food as a basic human right and a statutory obligation.
4) Healthy people, healthy planet to support nutrition and protect the environment.
5) A good food economy & affordable food offer through good jobs, affordable food, community-led enterprises and healthy businesses.
A proportion of the grants will be ring-fenced for projects that include food-related support for older adults, one of the key target groups in the strategy. The council is also encouraging smaller and black-led organisations to submit proposals, a series of workshops will be hosted to support applicants (dates to be confirmed, see below).
The application deadline is 12pm on Wednesday 3rd January. Please read through the guidance to check eligibility criteria and pre-requisites for grant applications.
If your organisation is interested in submitting a proposal for a grant, email George Christou george.christou@southwark.gov.uk to express interest, and the application form will be provided.
