Christina gives a huge amount back to Southwark’s community, improving the lives of younger and older people.
She has recently re-started the Edible Rotherhithe after-school food growing clubs and workshops for children at Surrey Square School, and has initiated a new after-school food growing club for children at St Joseph’s School Rotherhithe.
During the Summer of 2020 she further developed the community garden at Surrey Square School by creating a new orchard with fruit trees, bushes, vegetables and herbs, and implemented new raised beds and an edible green wall, which has benefitted around 500 children.
During the COVID-19 pandemic she connected with Cllr Akoto to provide sanitary products for food banks, and the Leathermarket JMB to provide sanitary products for vulnerable and isolating estate residents. She co-ordinated with local food providers to ensure that residents of Harman Close Sheltered Housing Unit received weekly hot and cold meals; and she provides ongoing weekly care and support with shopping and correspondence to 2 older Southwark residents with long term medical conditions so that they can remain as independent as possible. A total star!
