Campaign to Save The Beehive Pub

Walworth residents have expressed overwhelming objection to an application to turn a popular pub into a two-bedroom residential area.

Plans to turn the historic pub in the community which survived the blitz into two bedrooms flats has been met with objections from the Walworth Society who are encouraging residents to refuse the pub’s applications as they argue it would result in a permanent loss to west Walworth and that it remains a viable business that can continue well into the future

As a result of the nomination by the Walworth Society, the pub was made an asset of community value which means that community groups can bid to buy the building if sold, and the seller must sell to a community group within the first six months if there is interest.

The Walworth Society has outlined how the pub benefits the community as it is a safe place for local residents and somewhere that is valuable for local organizations for meetings and social events as well as how the pub is architecturally and historically significant

They have outlined how you can object to the plans on the council’s website which you can find here
