“An Amazing Event” – Launch of our State of the Sector report and Call to Action

The River Room at Glaziers’ Hall was the venue for an exciting morning bringing together partners from the council, NHS, businesses, and the Voluntary and Community Sector.

The River Room at Glaziers’ Hall was the venue for an exciting morning bringing together partners from the council, NHS, businesses, and the Voluntary and Community Sector.

The event was focused on a call to action from Community Southwark’s major piece of research into the State of the Voluntary and Community Sector in the borough.

Participants heard about the challenges of funding, premises, and public sector partnerships from VCS groups working with older people, young people, ethnic minority communities, and those with mental health issues.

The event also heard positive responses from funders and the Chief Executive of the council who endorsed the State of the Sector report and agreed to work with all partners to tackle the challenges together.

The next steps are working groups in each of the three key areas and there have already been a great number of volunteers keen to work in partnership to make the recommendations from the report reality.
