On 26 October 2024 the new Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 comes into force.
The Act follows a government consultation on sexual harassment in 2021 and introduces a new, positive legal obligation for employers to protect workers from sexual harassment. EHRC will soon be publishing their updated technical guidance on sexual harassment and harassment at work, following a consultation earlier this summer, which will help employers understand the new duty and how to comply.
In this webinar Acas and EHRC will explore what this means for employers and how they can approach this in line with best practice. It will cover:
• What is the new statutory preventative duty?
• What are an employer’s duties to prevent harassment from 3rd parties?
• What practical steps can employers be taking to comply with the new duty?
• What will happen if the duty is breached?
