Hello, Community Southwark (CS) members, thank you for letting me introduce myself.
My name is Jordan Creed, and I am the new Social Action and Communities officer at CS. In my role, I work with residents that want to make change in their community and support them to do this through workshops and 1-1 advice appointments.
As we move beyond the pandemic, I hope to be more involved in supporting social action to flourish in Southwark by going to where people are rather than expecting them to come to me.
That’s why I have been working to meet members of the community to learn about the work that they do so I can provide a service that is relevant to them.
From the conversations I have had with members of the community, I see my role at CS is to enable people to get their voices heard and get involved in social action. I want everyone who has a stake in Southwark to be able to understand how they can build a local campaign on an issue they care about and influence effectively.

That’s why my work now is focusing on equipping people with the knowledge and skills to lobby during the upcoming local council elections. These knowledge and skills will empower people and help us to achieve a more diverse range experiences and voices heard by the local candidates
That’s why as we go into the new year, I hope to provide more opportunities for residents to get involved in social action. For example, I hope to hold a craftivism session to show that social action does have to always be what people typically think of it as like letter writing and protests etc.
