The organisations listed in this section provide additional support to individuals and families, ranging from emergency food provision to employability schemes.

Pecan are the charity who are responsible for Southwark Food Bank. You can find out more about the services they offer, including how to refer residents to them, by accessing their website: https://southwark.foodbank.org.uk/.
They offer help that goes beyond a simple food parcel – they follow up with support around employment, budgeting, debt management, and cooking.
The now operate a food bank five days a week in five locations across the borough.
CSCH’s main remit is to provide emergency food parcels to people and they do this four days a week across different locations in Southwark. However, much like Pecan’s approach, they also focus on other areas including providing a holiday club and a community café.
The Camberwell Community Fridge is based at the Albrighton Centre and redistributes surplus food to those who need it. Unlike other food banks it offers fresh food and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Southwark council runs a hardship fund – a one off payment that Southwark residents can apply for here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/benefits-and-support/hardship-fund
It also supports residents via its Southwark Emergency Support Scheme (SESS), which can help individuals if they are a Southwark resident who's facing a crisis, emergency or disaster and needs help.
SESS normally provide goods or services rather than cash. For example, an resident might qualify for white goods, flooring, bedding, clothing or food.
You can receive help if you are:
- facing a crisis, emergency, or disaster
- at risk of having to move out of your home and community and go into care, or
- moving back into the community after spending time in a place such as a care home or hospital
You must also be:
- living in Southwark for at least 3 months
- 16 years of age or older, and
- receiving one of these benefits: Income Support; Jobseeker's Allowance (income based); Employment Support Allowance (income based); Guaranteed Pension Credit; Universal Credit
SESS is a discretionary scheme with limited funding so can only help those with the greatest need.

The Southwark Wellbeing Hub provides advice, guidance, and support to people who are seeking help with their mental wellbeing. They provide information, wellbeing workshops, help with navigating services, and peer support. They also host a directory of services available to Southwark residents.
South London and Maudsley have recently introduced a new project which helps people with mental health problems find paid work. They provide one-to-one career coaching, which includes CV writing, interview skills, support with benefits, housing or debt problems, to help people find a job that is right for them.
