Action Tutoring supports young people facing socio-economic disadvantage to achieve a meaningful level of academic attainment, with a view to enabling them to go on to further education, employment or training.
We do this by partnering high quality volunteer tutors with pupils to increase their subject knowledge, confidence and study skills.
Evidence shows that tutoring can make a significant difference to a young persons academic achievement, and we believe the opportunity to access tutoring shouldn't be limited by family income and background.
Through our network of committed, high quality volunteer tutors, we make the benefits of tutoring available to those that wouldn't otherwise afford it, enabling them to progress beyond GCSEs, to further education, employment or training.
Since launching in 2011 with 2 pilot schools in London, Action Tutoring now works with over 30 schools in the capital. Those in or near to Southwark include:
- Lambeth Academy, Lambeth
- St Gabriel's College, Lambeth
- Lilian Baylis School, Vauxhall
- The Charter School, North Dulwich
- Walworth Academy, Walworth
- ARK Globe Academy, Elephant & Castle
- City of London Academy, Southwark
Our vision is a world in which no child's life chances are limited by their socio-economic background.
