ATD Fourth World UK works with people facing severe and multiple disadvantage due to long-term poverty. They help families and individuals to defend their rights, cope better with the problems they face, improve well-being, break isolation and strengthen community.

Volunteer Roles

Community Lunches

The Thursday Community Lunch & Drop-in is an opportunity for people facing poverty and social exclusion in the borough to meet up, have a chat and find out what’s going in at ATD Fourth World. Hot lunches are prepared with fresh ingredients and regular attendees are invited to share recipes and help cook. Creative workshops, discussion groups and outings are held regularly.

Volunteers get involved setting up, preparing food and cooking, socialising with participants, and if able, running creative activities or supporting our outings.  This role is really flexible and though it runs every week, you don’t need to commit to every week.  Just come along to one of our lunches from 1pm to see what we do.

When: Thursday drop-in Community Lunches
Commitment: Weekly 10am-2pm

Christmas party

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, but for families living in poverty Christmas can be a real struggle. Every year ATD Fourth World organizes a Christmas party which offers families and friends a chance to celebrate Christmas together. This year our party is on Saturday 2nd December and is being held at the Methodist Church Hall on the Camberwell Road.

We need support in the run up to the event cooking, wrapping gifts and making decorations. On the day, we need support from 10am-8pm decorating the venue, setting up for the party, serving food and generally helping the party run smoothly.

Commitment: On the day, weekly preparation in the run up to the event
