Community Southwark's very own Robert Jamieson'sDSC_0256 #reasontorun 26.2 miles in the London Marathon on 23 April is purely to raise funds for Southwark Giving.

Robert, by this own admission, is not an avid runner. In fact, a few months ago he wouldn't have even considered entering for the London Marathon. Well, that is until a colleague challenged him to it and to run it as a Southwark Giving fundraiser - and he accepted! Ever since Robert has been training diligently for the big day - and it's not been without its trials so far. Yes, the horrid 'i' word has already featured: injury. Thankfully though, after professional medical attention, Robert has the all clear to continue training and run the marathon on the day. He is choosing to undertake and complete this challenge to help raise funds to help meet the hidden, emerging and unmet community needs in the borough of Southwark via Southwark Giving.

So, Robert's dedication to uniting Southwark to tackle local disadvantage is shown not only through the fact that he works for Community Southwark, he is now also running the marathon for Southwark Giving - and this marathon, his first ever, even runs through northern Southwark. Now, that's commitment!

Every penny that is fundraised will go towards helping to address the various challenging community needs that exist in Southwark outlined here in this report.DSC_0253
