Small but mighty: the immense impact of small charities in Southwark.
Today is ‘Small Charity, Big Impact’ day, the fifth day in Small Charity Week. But we want to go further… small charities, immense impact!
In the last year, small charities in Southwark have made a profound impact on the lives of people in the borough, the city and beyond. We know this because Community Southwark’s Small Group Network meetings are where we hear about the amazing difference these groups have made. (If your group is run by volunteers and/or up to 3 paid staff members then you can join the network here). You can then book onto the next network meeting on the 23 June here.
In the last few months especially, small groups and organisations - those with a turnover of less than £1 million - have played an invaluable role. They have helped to meet the pressing needs of those most vulnerable in the borough during the Covid-19 crisis.
One of these organisations is God’s Solution Centre. With funding from Southwark Council, they distributed essential food parcels to those in need. The impact of this vital work, put well by one their volunteers, is to: “restore hope to the hopeless”. You can watch an inspiring video demonstrating their work here.

But for many small charities, showcasing impact is particularly difficult. We know you are so busy getting the work done, that it’s hard to find a moment to step back and think about how to measure the impact of that work. Paper questionnaires and feedback forms, for example, can pile up and become unmanageable;
That’s where Community Southwark comes in. We have put together four simple guides that take you through the process of monitoring and evaluating your impact. You can find them here along with some other useful resources. If you need any further support, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with the development team at email@example.com. We are here to help.
