Bede House are advertising for a youth work apprentice (2 year contract) and a sessional tutor (2 hours a week in an evening youth club).

Youth Support Work Apprenticeship
(Bert and Aase Sams Legacy)
2-year contract leading to a Diploma in Youth Work
£10.75 an hour, plus pension, 35 hrs a week

The Bede Youth Adventure Project provides clubs, detached youth work, adventure residentials and practical learning and support for over 150 local young people each year. Both posts are located at the Bede Centre, Abbeyfield Road, SE16 2BS, and Enhanced DBS checks are required.

This exciting new youth work apprenticeship is fully funded by the Bert and Aase Sams Legacy. As part of a team of two lead youth workers, deputy manager and manager, the apprentice will be learning through direct work with young people aged 8 to 25 (including some who have special education needs) and a formal programme of study leading to a Level 3 Youth Work Diploma qualification. Candidates will have at least 6 months experience (paid or voluntary), an enthusiasm for working with young people living in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe and the flexibility to work the full range of variable hours and activities.

Study Support Tutor (Bert and Aase Sams Legacy)
Sessional Contract (until June 30, 2020)
£25 an hour, 2 hours a week

The team seek a talented tutor, experienced in all subject areas, to attend one of our youth clubs and guide young people aged 8 to 16 in study practices and aides to reach their full potential. You will have direct experience of the modern school curriculum, bringing knowledge of core subjects as well as study techniques (including managing dyslexia and other learning difficulties). You will support individual young people with one-on-one advice and guidance, together with organised group activities for those studying the same material.

Youth clubs run from 5.30pm to 9.30pm, Monday to Wednesday (your start and finish times will be agreed within this framework). The 2 hours per week will include the tutor’s preparation time and the study support session.

Deadline for completed applications for this tutor role is 12 noon Monday March 2. Interviews on March 16 (evening).
