Community Southwark is establishing a new network of organisations and clubs that deliver sports and physical activities to people of all ages in the borough.
At our first meeting in Februrary we had a lively discusion around some of the current issues impacting on local sports and activity groups. The main part of the meeting was sopent feeding into the draft Southwark Council Vision for Sports and Physical Acivity 2019-2022. We are holding a further meeting on 14 May to look a bit more in depth on how the high level themes can be delivered.
We will also provide some time for you to inform the other groups of your current programmes and projects and perhaps identify opportunities to partnership working. Book your free place here.
We have identified a lack of a mechanism that provides an inclusive enviroment for clubs and organisations that offer a variety of activities to a wide range of local people to come together. Many of these organiations will share common concerns, interests and needs. We believe that a forum where issues such as premises or open spaces, recruiting volunteers and trustees, sources of funding, national and council policies etc., can be discussed and potential solutions explored, will be of benefit to those groups. We envisage that the proposed network will run along similar lines to that of our other Provider Led Groups (PLGs) that have been established over the past 18 months. We want to topics to be chosen by you, but we will support and faciliate the work. If you are interested in being part of a new Network please email Steve Smith or phone 020 7358 7017.
